Create a Mother's Day card decorated with hand-made flower stamps!

To create these cute stamped cards, gather the following materials:

You will need:

- one large piece of light colored paper

- 2-3 toilet paper rolls

- scissors

- tempura or acrylic paint

- paintbrush for adding details

Start by folding your large piece of paper in half from top to bottom.

Place your card to the side and get ready to cut your toilet paper rolls. If you need help with this part of the project please ask for it. It can be a bit hard to maneuver the scissors to cut the toilet paper rolls.

The simplest way to cut a stamp is to cut evenly spaced cuts down one side of the tp roll. Cut about an inch down and try to cut to the same point for each flap.

Once you've cut around the whole tp roll, carefully peel the flaps one by one and open them up to reveal a flower shaped stamp!

I made a different stamp for the second flower by cutting triangles on the edges of the tp roll and bending them back. Try different cutting patterns to make a new style of flower!

Get your paints ready for stamping! Spread a thick layer of paint out on a piece of newspaper or on a paper plate. Press your toilet paper roll stamp into the paint and make sure you get enough on each petal.

Press your stamp down onto your card. Pick the stamp up and while trying to stay over the same spot you just stamped, spin the tp roll stamp in your hand and stamp down again, repeating a few times so you create a circular, flower shape.

Try with a different color paint next to the first flower with a different stamp shape to create a new flower design!

Let your stamped flowers dry for a few minutes, then start painting on some stems and leaves with green paint. Feel free to add grass or birds or any other details you think would look nice!

Let your card dry completely and then get ready to write a message to your mom! Make sure you write something on the inside of your card! Say, "Happy Mother's Day!" and maybe write a special message to your mom, grandma or aunt, whomever you're planning on giving your card to! Also, be sure to sign your card!

St. Lawrence students, please send a picture of your finished artwork to stlawrenceartclass@gmail.com so I can display it on the school’s website!
