Create a Mother's Day card decorated with curled, 3-D paper flowers.

To create these adorable curled paper cards you will need:

- one large piece of paper (I used a piece that is covered in solid watercolor paint. If you have time and the supplies, you can paint a piece of paper with watercolors and let it dry before using for this)

- multi colored pieces of paper (I used smaller scrap papers I had)

- scissors

- a pencil for curling paper edges

- markers for adding decorations

Start by folding your large piece of paper in half from top to bottom.

Choose some bright, colorful pieces of paper for your flowers and cut them into a rectangular shape, if they aren't already.

Next, cut a curved edge on the each of the two corners on one side of the rectangle. This curved side will be the bottom of your flower.

Next, we're going to cut the petals of the flower. Cut straight lines down to the middle of the rectangle on the side that you didn't cut yet.

Now it's time to curl the petals! Grab your pencil and place it at the end of one of the flaps we cut for the petals. While holding the paper against the pencil, start to curl the paper around the pencil and wrap it all the way up til you get to where you stopped cutting. Press and hold for a few seconds, then let the paper unravel off of the pencil. Repeat this process to each and every flower petal until they're all curled.

Repeat this same process to a few more pieces to make three flowers in total. Then arrange them nicely on your card and glue them down.

Cut out some cute green leaves to glue down under your flowers.

Draw a stem and add some cute details to your flowers. I added some little colorful details sticking out of the top of each flower.

Make sure you write something on the inside of your card! Say, "Happy Mother's Day!" and maybe write a special message to your mom, grandma or aunt, whomever you're planning on giving your card to! Also, be sure to sign your card!

St. Lawrence students, please send a picture of your finished artwork to stlawrenceartclass@gmail.com so I can display it on the school’s website!
